2020 Collegiate Challenge

Boston College students went from hitting the books to hitting nails at the 2020 Collegiate Challenge.

For 10 years, Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity has provided Boston College with an alternative school break volunteer opportunity. Nationally, the program began in the late ’80s and more than 250,000 volunteers have committed to building safe, affordable homes across the United States through Collegiate Challenge.

This unique one-week volunteer program is offered during the first week of March and this year we had 9 Boston College students travel to Gloucester County for an incredible experience that they will never forget.

Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity’s Collegiate Challenge offers an education all its own. Students learned about substandard living conditions and how affordable housing builds strength, stability and self-reliance for homeowners. The students even got to meet Lara – the future homeowner!

These are life lessons that the Boston College young adults will carry with them far into the future!
