45th Home Dedication

June 24, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity Dedicates 45th Home to Single Mother on Wednesday July 8th at 4pm

Pitman, NJ (Wednesday, June 24, 2020) – Since 1986, Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity has provided over 200 individuals the opportunity to fulfill their dream of homeownership. On Wednesday, July 8 at 4 pm, the media and the public are cordially invited to attend the home dedication ceremony for house #45 located at 1302 East Blvd. in Glassboro, NJ.

Please join us as we celebrate new homeowner, Lisa Gabriel and her daughter Destiny into their new home.  Lisa and Destiny were selected into the 18-month Habitat Homeownership Program and have earned over 350 sweat equity hours by working on Habitat homes, helping in the ReStore, and completing home ownership classes.

“Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity is hard at work eliminating poverty housing and improving the lives of hard working, low income families,” said Danny Sulpizio, board chair for Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity. He added, “In addition to the benefit for the family, the home can be a catalyst for neighbors to clean up and beautify existing properties, creating more of a community environment in which families take pride. ”

“We have walked side-by-side with Lisa on her journey toward homeownership and know that her family will make a great addition to the Borough of Glassboro,” said Tony Isabella, Executive Director, Gloucester County Habitat. “We are fortunate to have such strong partnerships with Gloucester County and the Borough, who are working closely with us to build homes and stronger neighborhoods in Gloucester County.”

Gloucester County Freeholder Heather Simmons adds, “This partnership between the county and the Gloucester County Habitat is providing families with the ability to reach the American dream. All of our Habitat families go through a rigorous financial education and must invest sweat equity into the building of their home.  All of Lisa and Destiny’s hard work has paid off and has built a beautiful home for them to share.”

The home is large enough for the family’s needs, but also small enough to keep maintenance cost to a minimum. Gabriel qualified for our Homeownership Program and will be responsible for paying a zero‐percent mortgage financed through South Jersey Federal Credit Union. Funding for the home was provided by Home Funds through Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Wells Fargo Foundation and individual donations to Gloucester County Habitat.

“Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders proudly partners with Habitat for Humanity. Habitat assists families in fulfilling lifelong dreams of home ownership. Lisa and Destiny worked hard to make their dream become reality. Welcome to Glassboro!” adds Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger.
