Gloucester County Habitat builds 47th Habitat Home, Gives Keys to Homeowner

PITMAN, NJ (May 4, 2020) — Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity officially handed a County family the keys to their new home on Thursday, April 30th. The Sale marks the 47th Habitat home built in Gloucester County since 1986.

For the past 18 months, Habitat for Humanity has worked with the Lisa and her daughter Destiny to build their 1,200 sq. ft. home on East Boulevard in Glassboro, NJ. The family was chosen through the Homeownership Program that addresses the affordable housing needs in Gloucester County.

T o purchase this home, the family performed 350 sweat equity hours building their home and the homes of others as a requirement for becoming Habitat homeowners.  They will purchase the home with at no-cost and with a zero‐percent mortgage financed through South Jersey Federal Credit Union. The sale of the home will be used to build more Habitat houses in Gloucester County.

At a later date, Gloucester County Habitat will host a “Habitation” celebration for the mother and daughter at their home. During the celebration we will recognize volunteers, corporate contributors, the Brough of Glassboro and Gloucester County all for their contribution to Building a Better Gloucester County through homeownership.
