Gloucester County’s Habitat for Humanity is seeking a veteran in need. Specifically, the organization is looking for a local post-9/11 veteran who wants to partner with the affiliate’s new Veterans Build program.
Danny Sulpizio, president of the Habitat affiliate’s board of directors, said they’ve reached out to local veterans organizations but they haven’t been able to find a veteran who has recently served who could benefit from the program.
The Veterans Build program aims to “build a network of Habitat affiliates, military, veteran service organizations, non-profits and sponsors that will increase the capacity to serve the housing needs of veterans through homeowners,” according to a release.
“We are happy to have the opportunity to extend this mission to include our military veterans,” said Sulpizio.
While Habitat partner families are always required to contribute hours of “sweat equity” in order to buy a home through the affiliate, they usually don’t work on their own homes.
In this build, Sulpizio is hoping the partner veteran will be able to work on the home they’ll soon live in, with support from family and friends.
