As a result of the selfless donation of a Gloucester County resident who has chosen to remain nameless, on November 1, 2014 Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH) became the owner of a parcel of land at 425 Allen Street in Woodbury. Seeing the tremendous opportunity in the size of the land, GCHFH began to work with County Freeholders and local officials to have this parcel of land subdivided so that we can serve the needs of two deserving Gloucester County families in need of quality housing and not just one. Having recently completed some site work, construction will soon be under way and Habitat volunteers will be working hard to turn donated land into a family’s ultimate dream, homeownership.

These two new homes will be energy star compliant, constructed with quality material and raised with the love and support of volunteers that care about helping others. We are confident that the partner families that move in to these homes will be become productive members of the Gloucester County community.  One of the biggest misconceptions of being a Habitat partner family is that we give homes away, to the contrary, this home will be purchased by each family at cost and they will apply for a zero interest mortgage and be responsible for its repayment.

A resident looking to give back to the community, local government, dedicated volunteers and the direction of GCHFH coming to together to make the dream of homeownership come true for two families. That is what community is all about.

What have you built today?

GCHFH is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. GCHFH receives no funding or financial support from the parent organization. Rather, funds are obtained from individuals, churches and corporate donors. The GCHFH mission of building safe, decent and affordable housing has been and will remain a formidable challenge. New Jersey ranks as one of the least affordable States in the U.S. for housing relative to income. Our Vision – A world where everyone has a decent place to live. Our Mission – Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
