Leading up to Mother’s Day; Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity will host women lead volunteer event to increase affordable housing awareness
Popular Women Build event, presented by Columbia Bank, returns to Woodbury, NJ May 2nd – 6th
Pitman, NJ. (April 28, 2022) – Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH) in conjunction with various local partners is honoring the upcoming Mother’s Day celebration with construction crews of female volunteers. The volunteers will raise their hammers for one of our own Habitat mothers, Kennetha Dixon.
With the help of building a new home through Habitat’ homeownership program, Kennetha will see her dream of finally having a home for her family come true. Being able to own a new, affordable home she hopes to be invite her children to New Jersey for the holiday seasons and continue her journey to success. She told us, “I want my kids to be proud to walk in my footsteps. I hope to pass the home down to my kids. I want to know my kids have a roof over them always.”
This story is not unique. Every day, millions of women face the challenge of a future without adequate, stable housing. This issue underscores the importance of GCHFH’s efforts to bring awareness to the issue, as well as ensuring that more women have access to affordable housing. Women Build is presented by Columbia Bank with additional sponsorship donations from Investors Bank, Inspira Health, HFM Investment Advisors, Nexus Properties, Republic Bank and Astro Signs. Over 75 lunches will be donated by Chick Fil A Mantua Square.
