Veterans Build Fundraiser
Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity kicks off fundraiser for Veterans Build in the City of Woodbury
The fundraiser is supported by Ray Kratz during the Dancing with the Gloucester County Stars competition.
Pitman, NJ. (July 12, 2022) – Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH) is holding a Sponsor a Stud campaign to give the community a way to get involved with the Veterans Build Habitat home in the City of Woodbury. Companies and individuals are encouraged to Sponsor a Stud with a $25 donation for a single stud or aligning with GCHFH at a sponsorship level.
It takes more than 300 studs, 2×4 pieces of lumber, to build a Habitat for Humanity home. And at a time when the U.S. grapples with the economic fallout tied to the COVID-19 pandemic, GCHFH has experienced a 36% increase in construction costs, so sponsor donations are crucial to advancing their mission to providing affordable homeownership opportunities for low-income homebuyers.
“Our Sponsor-a-Stud campaign gives everyone a chance make their own mark on a Habitat home, and in this case a Habitat Veterans Build home. When you purchase a stud, you can decorate it and write inspirational messages to the veteran family who will be purchasing the home, and we will use these studs to frame the house when it is built in the fall,” said Ashley Griffiths, Executive Director, GCHFH. “If you don’t have a car that you can transport the stud in — because it is pretty big — then we invite you to visit our ReStore, where we have studs available to write your well wishes to the family,” Griffiths said.
The Sponsor a Stud fundraiser is supporting Ray Kratz, owner of the Ray Kratz Allstate located in Deptford, NJ as he participates in Dancing with the Gloucester County Stars (DWTGCS) hosted by the Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce. DWTGCS, in which six contestants dance for a nonprofit organization of their choice, held its first dancing competition 15 years ago, mimicking the hit show “Dancing with the Stars,” with the goal of raising money for local charities.
Habitat’s dancer, Ray Kratz, said, “It is an honor to be participating in the Gloucester County Dancing with the Starts fundraising event for Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity. The work GCHFH does in the community for our neighbors is remarkable. I look forward to putting on my dancing shoes and helping to raise funds for the Veterans Build home in Woodbury.”
