Woodbury, NJ – Tuesday, March 10, 2020: Nearly 50 volunteers participated in Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2020 last week. And with March 1-8 being International Women Build Week, the crew working on the home at 457 Allen Street was predominantly female.
“Women Build is a worldwide event that brings sheds light that women are disproportionately affected by unaffordable housing, In the U.S. alone, almost 31% of woman-headed households with children are below the poverty level.” said Tony Isabella, Gloucester County Habitat’s Executive Director
The Gloucester County Women Build is one of about 235 nationwide as well as in Canada and India.
This year’s project provided volunteers with a unique opportunity to participate in the transformation of the interior of the new home. Through the work of 50 volunteers, Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity of was able to install all interior doors and install window sills, cut and pant trim, and paint the 1,250 sq. ft. house.
